Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 5, 2026
This policy explains what information Algebra Trainer ("we", "us"), operated by Curious Inventions LLC, collects when you use algebratrainer.com, and how we use it.
Information we collect
- If you sign in with Google: your Google account ID, name, and email address, as provided by Google Sign-In. We never see or store your Google password.
- If you use guest mode: a random identifier generated in your browser and stored in its local storage, so your progress can be saved without an account.
- Learning progress: which activities and quizzes you complete, your score, how long each took, and when you finished.
If you are 13 or older, we ask before enabling Google Analytics, and you can turn it off at any time in Settings. When you submit a Homework Helper problem and analytics is on, the problem text (for example, "2x+3=7") is sent to Google Analytics as a usage event so we can see what students need help with. Please don't enter personal information there.
How we use it
When you choose to read a Homework Helper image, it is sent through our API to our own AI server to transcribe the math. The app does not save uploaded images or include them in analytics. Please crop out names and other personal information before uploading. You can review and edit the extracted problem before using the solver. Extracted problem text is treated like typed homework text under the analytics rules above.
When our self-hosted usage counters are enabled, we count app opens and predefined actions (such as starting or finishing an activity) for visitors of all ages. Only the app name and action name are sent to this separate service. It stores daily totals, not individual events, and does not save IP addresses, cookies, user or session identifiers, homework text, scores, or activity identifiers. The service necessarily receives network request information while handling the request. These counters are separate from optional Google Analytics and are not controlled by the Google Analytics choice in Settings.
To run the service: to save your progress, show which modules you've completed, and keep the site working. We also use anonymous usage statistics, such as which activities are started and finished, to improve the lessons. We do not sell your information, show ads, or use it for advertising.
Third-party services
Google Sign-In is provided by Google, and our fonts are served by Google Fonts. We also use Google Analytics to measure how the site is used. When your browser loads these, Google receives standard request information such as your IP address, as described in Google's Privacy Policy.
Storage and retention
Your information is stored on our own server and kept for as long as your account or guest record exists. You can ask us to delete it at any time by emailing us; guest data can also be abandoned by clearing your browser's site data.
Children
Algebra Trainer is an educational service that students may use. Before signing in, we ask for a birth month and year to work out whether you are under 13; we keep only the result (under 13 or 13 and older) on your device, not your birthday. If you are under 13, you can use guest mode only: Google sign-in is not offered, and Google Analytics is never loaded or used. Guest mode stores a random identifier and your learning progress so your work can be saved. Parents who believe their child has provided personal information can contact us to have it deleted.
The self-hosted daily usage counters described above may also include actions by visitors under 13, without linking those actions to a child, guest record, or account. Daily counter totals are scheduled for deletion within 90 days; database cleanup can take a little longer to run.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above. Significant changes will be noted on the site.
